With months of quiet time auction businesses are quickly starting to get back to normal.  As a result of business restructuring and rescues which are on the rise in South Africa, WH Auctioneers this month intends to host what it believes will be its largest ever online only auction with over 200 lots of significant mining, construction, and transport assets.

According to WH Executive Tim Varenzakis, ‘the market has been incredibly busy as we have moved to level two, with many business owners having taken the opportunity to use the lockdown time to strategize their business requirements. This has seen an elevated amount of great stock hitting our auction floor, a good amount of which is high quality late model.  Whilst during the initial hard lockdown we also saw that the banks had stop repossessing, they have now started the process again.”

All of this has seen WH with some great equipment available.  For starters, there is what Zakis describes as ‘the best selection of great quality late model Caterpillar equipment we have seen in a number of years” up for sale, including 4 Caterpillar D6R and D7R Dozers, 140H and K Graders, as well as 323D, 340D and 349D excavators.  In addition to this, there are 7 JCB TLBs all with under 3,000 hours.  We are also excited to be able to offer 2 superb 2018 Bell B40E dump trucks with low hours as well as 70 Ton Hitachi excavators.

He continued to say that “Perhaps the most exciting items for the mining and construction sector are a fleet of late model, low kilometre, Mercedes Benz off-road capable trucks, including 2018 Axor 3344 6x6 and Axor 1823 4x4 diesel tanker trucks as well as a number of fully equipped 4x4 and 4x2 service trucks.  We have never before had a fleet like this and are excited to see the market uptake.”

Buyers will also have the chance to bid an incredible selection of mechanical, including a fleet of 17 2018 and 2019 MAN and Mercedes Benz 6x4 Horses, followed by a fleet of well-maintained similarly aged side tip and tautliner trailers, almost all with brand new tires – an unusual occurrence on auctions.

There are also several rigid trucks available.  On the larger size, buyers will find some great Nissan and Mercedes Benz tanker and tipper trucks including rock binned 8x4 Mercedes Benz 4144s.  Going down in size, buyers will have a large selection of smaller trucks, ranging from 1.5 ton to 8 ton including Hino and Isuzu drop-side, crane, and box body trucks.

According to Varenzakis, “whilst the auction will completely online, viewing will still be as usual.  Buyers will be able to visit on Monday and Tuesday before the auction to check out the stock available so that they are completely up to date with what they are bidding on.  In addition, should buyers need finance, they can contact our finance partners, Auction Finance who are generally able to get pre-approval for our customers.

We expect a great turnout for the auction given the range and quality of truck, and believe that for those looking to either grow or update their fleet, there won’t be a better auction for months to come” claims Varenzakis
