Base metals project developer Atlantic Nickel has made a new discovery at the south-western extension of the Palestina project, which is located 26 km from its Santa Rita mine, in Brazil.

Drilling has confirmed the discovery of a new zone at the Palestina intrusive nickel/copper/platinum group metals complex, with intercepts showing about ten times more gold, platinum and palladium content than encountered at Santa Rita.

Intervals of up to 42 m length down hole have been encountered and the mineralised horizon is open at depth and along strike to the north, Atlantic Nickel reports.

Highlights include 18.05 m at 0.49% nickel-equivalent from 94.50 m, 42.42 m at 0.45% nickel-equivalent from 18 m, 21.55 m at 0.32% nickel-equivalent from 54 m, 17 m at 0.46% nickel-equivalent from 107 m and 25.47 m at 0.37% nickel-equivalent from 130.53 m.

The nickel and precious metals mineralisation identified is located within trucking distance of the existing site infrastructure, Atlantic Nickel and Appian Capital Brazil CEO Paulo Castellari pointed out on Monday.

“We are assessing the potential for the discovery at Palestina to support openpit resources. We also continue to evaluate our six regional targets, Santa Maria, Aiquara, Ponto Novo, Machadinho, Ibicui and Ibitupa for additional follow-up work – including drilling in 2021,” he added.
