Project Description
The Wonderfontein project involves the construction of a double-stage coal handling and preparation plant and a contractor-operated opencut mine and siding. The mine will have a run-of-mine production capacity of 3.6-million tonnes a year and produce 2.5-million tonnes a year of saleable product for the export and domestic markets.

Value
Capital expenditure is estimated at $94-million.

Duration
First coal to the plant is expected in the second quarter of 2014, with ramp-up to steady-state production expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of that year.
