PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Westgold Resources has marked a milestone at its Fortnum gold project, in Western Australia, producing 250 000 oz under the company’s ownership.

Westgold started mining at Fortnum in 2017, with the project centred around the 0.9-million-tonne-a-year Fortnum processing plant.

Since operations commenced in 2017 Westgold has produced 190 000 oz from the Starlight underground mine, 50 000 oz from the Yarlarweelor openpit and the balance of the 250 000 oz mined from the Tom’s and Sam’s openpit.

“Fortnum is a profitable operation that consistently delivers for our shareholders. Reaching a quarter-of-a-million ounces of gold mined under Westgold management is a significant project milestone and a credit to Fortnum’s entire operating team,” said Westgold MD Wayne Bramwell.

“The efficient and low-cost Starlight underground mine is the key to Fortnum’s success and building on its success, an aggressive three rig drilling campaign is now focussed on extending the future of this highly efficient and valuable operation.”
