Company Announcement - Waco Industries is a company that prides itself on making a difference within the communities in which it operates and making a positive impact needs to encompass not only its operational objectives but also those of the communities who ultimately contribute to its success.
Waco therefore jumped at the opportunity to become involved with the ARK Campaign (Acts of Random Kindness) which is founded on the principle that each and every one of us ‘Can Change the World for Good’. Waco were drawn to the fact that this campaign inspires its’ employees participation and gives them the freedom to select recipients within their immediate communities. Their employees therefore actively set about filling the ARKs that were received and selecting a group in need.
Waco Industries, Durban accomplished this when they filled 27 ARKS and handed these over to the St. Monica’s Child & Youth Care Centre on the 3rd of October 2015. The Waco staff also took their Random Act of Kindness a step further by serving a hearty meal to the children and spent the day with the children engaging in social and recreational activities. There were plenty of games played from soccer to cricket to netball and even some dancing. To top off the day the children were also treated to party packs and cupcakes, which were generously sponsored by the family of Beverley Moollen. Waco staff commented on how heartening the experience had been and each one left with a little piece of the St. Monica’s children now a part of them.
St. Monica’s Child & Youth Care Centre is a non-governmental institution, situated on the Bluff in Kwa-Zulu Natal, which cares for orphaned and vulnerable children. It currently accommodates 84 children ranging from 3 to 18 years of age.
