TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Vancouver-based Veris Gold on Friday responded to the allegation of wrongful dismissal by its former COO and co-CEO.

Veris said it was named a defendant in a notice of civil claim filed on behalf of Randy Reichert, the company’s former co-CEO. The notice of civil claim alleged that Veris Gold wrongfully dismissed Reichert and speculates on reasons why his employment was terminated.

The company denied all the allegations made by Reichert and said it would vigorously defend the claim. The company would file a response “in due course”.

On May 7, Veris Gold announced that Reichert was no longer an employee of the company and said, on June 5, that he had resigned as a director.

The company last week named its president, Llee Chapman, new CEO and Graham Dickson COO. Dickson remains senior VP for corporate development.

Veris Gold owns and operates Jerritt Canyon mine in Elko County, Nevada, and holds a portfolio of precious metals properties in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory, including the former producing Ketza River mine.
