Diversified energy company Exxaro Resources reports that independent nonexecutive directors Vuyisa Nkonyeni and Lenamile Mophatlane will retire by rotation, with effect from May 18.

Nkonyeni will retire from his role as chairperson and member of the audit and investment committees, while Mophatlane will retire as chairperson of the investment committee and member of the audit and social and ethics committees.

Nkonyeni was appointed to the Exxaro board as an independent nonexecutive director in June 2014, and the board extends its gratitude to him for his “valuable and outstanding contribution” to Exxaro over the years.

Mophatlane was appointed to the board as an independent nonexecutive director in May 2018 and Exxaro’s board also extends its gratitude to him for his “valued contribution” to the company.

Exxaro’s board considers succession planning and board refreshment as a key element for the sustainability of the company.
