The Independent Estate Agency Network of South Africa (IEANSA ) welcomes the announcement of the appointment of Thato Ramaili as its new acting CEO, effective 1st of February 2023. The outgoing acting CEO, Ms Deli Nkambule is, in our view, good riddance, as she has been running the organization as her personal fiefdom on social media platforms since her appointment as Acting CEO.

On behalf of all independent real estate agencies and their practitioners, IEANSA wishes to extend our congratulations, support and well as good wishes to Thato on her new role.

As IEANSA, we know that under her leadership we can count on the cooperation and assistance of both staff at the PPRA and the wider real estate stakeholder community during this time.

According to the statement by the PPRA, Ramaili will serve as interim CEO while the “recruitment process of new CEO” is being finalized. Strangely, no public pronouncement by the Board was ever made regarding the legal status of the position of the current and suspended CEO Ms Mamodupi Mohlala.

This comes as the current suspended CEO is allegedly still under disciplinary hearing and the industry is yet to hear of her official departure to serve in a top position at the PPRA. Yet the PPRA is already finalizing the recruitment of the new ACEO.

IEANSA fully supports the PPRA Board in the appointment of the New Acting CEO. However, we hope that the Board followed all the legal prescripts and principles of good corporate governance framework in the appointment of the new Acting CEO given that, to the best of our knowledge, she is both a Board member of the PPRA and an active participant in the industry by virtue of her owning a real estate agency.

“We call upon the PPRA Board to ensure accountability, fairness and transparency in how the PPRA runs and communicates with all its stakeholders going forward”, says Botshelo Rakate, IEANSA Board Chair

IEANSA further reiterates our commitment to the best interests of all stakeholders in the industry moving forward.

Let us Connect, Learn and Network to move a transformed real estate and property industry forward in the new year.
