Name of the project and location
Sukari gold project, Egypt.

Project description
Centamin Egypt’s board of directors has approved the development of the Sukari gold project in Egypt following the completion of a definitive feasibility study (DFS).

The Sukari gold project consists of a 2,5-km-long porphyry granite hill, situated about 700 km south of Cairo and 25 km west of Marsa Alam on the Red Sea.

The base case DFS has concluded that a four-million-ton-a-year plant, producing on average 200 000 oz/y, over 15 years of mining, is economically robust.

The 8,26-million-ounce resource is not closed off and a ten-rig drilling programme is ongoing. Significant resource growth is expected and there is potential to increase the future production profile.

The Sukari gold project will be the first modern gold-mine operation in Egypt.

Value
Total capital construction costs are estimated at $216-million.

Duration
The project was given the go-ahead in February 2007. Commissioning is expected in the third quarter of 2008.
