South African start-up launches an online heavy equipment rental marketplace
Moquire, a South African start-up developing a marketplace for technology and services for asset-heavy industries has announced the launch of its heavy equipment rental marketplace. The marketplace enables equipment owners to list equipment available to rent and to do so for free. The marketplace is inspired by services such as Airbnb and aims to help equipment owners and businesses in the equipment rental space to monetise excess capacity or get another channel to reach out to potential customers. For equipment renters, the marketplace makes the process of finding equipment convenient and increases transparency, considering that renters can compare equipment rates and specifications easily.
Moquire’s founder, Malvern Chinaka, has expressed confidence that the marketplace will help redefine heavy equipment ownership and rental in South Africa. According to Chinaka, Moquire does not aim to compete with traditional equipment rental businesses but to assist them to work better and find work easily. Being a predominantly online business helps the company to generate data and insights that will be shared with equipment owners and renters to help them make better decisions about equipment to invest in and to rent.
The rental marketplace is aimed at most industries that require heavy plant, including mining, construction, freight and agriculture. It is but one of the products and technologies that Moquire is working on and will launch over the next few months.
The rental marketplace is accessible at www.moquire.com. Inquiries about the service can be sent to mo@moquire.com
