See US stars Christina Aguilera and Jason Derulo at the South African of the Year (SATY) 2015 Awards – preregister for tickets today!
Company Announcement - Fresh from revealing the glamorous hosts of the second annual South African of the Year (SATY 2015) Awards, the organisers have announced that members of the public can today start pre-booking tickets for the exclusive event. Headlining the show will be six-time Grammy Award winner Christina Aguilera and multiple international music award winner Jason Derulo while TV personality Minnie Dlamini, ex-Miss South Africa Cindy Nell, actor Masego "Maps" Maponyane and model-turned-businesswoman, Jo-Ann Strauss, will host the star-studded event.
The show will feature a Who's Who of South Africa in attendance, so tickets to the public are limited. Tickets can be pre-booked from today on ticketpro.co.za and preference will be given to those who pre-register when tickets go on sale on Monday, August 24, 2015.
The organisers are offering early-bird pricing of R550 and R850 on limited numbers of tickets, and expecting these tickets to go fast. Full price tickets will cost R1200, R1600, R2000 and R2500, depending on the location of seats, for a show that will also include local superstars AKA, Mafikizolo, ChianoSky and The Soil as well as a visual lighting and pyrotechnics feast. SATY 2015 celebrates those from all walks, honouring both prominent and unheralded South Africans excelling in various fields ranging from business, sport, entertainment, civil society, politics, entrepreneurship and ordinary people making a difference in the country.
The theme for SATY 2015 is Unity in Diversity and the event will celebrate the second anniversary of ANN7, currently broadcast on DSTV's channel 405. A coup for the organisers is the confirmation of Aguilera as the headline artist. The 34-year old scooped her sixth Grammy in February this year for the song "Say Something". She has sold more than 50 million albums since her breakout hit "Genie in a Bottle" in 1999. She is a judge on the top-rated US reality singing show, The Voice, and is known for hits such as "What A Girl Wants", "Dirty", "Ain't No Other Man" and "Beautiful", among others. SATY 2015 aims to capture the ingenuity, patriotism and successes of South African people with Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, winning the main category, the South African of the Year Award, at last year’s inaugural event. The international act was former member of the Pussycat Dolls and pop star Nicole Scherzinger.
In the run up to SATY 2015, ANN7 is screening the show, "I am South African", which airs daily from Monday to Saturday at 6pm. It celebrates South Africa's leading business figures, artists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, politicians and athletes, among others, and is hosted by Maponyane. A panel of 12 judges have shortlisted nominees in each category with the public then voting for the eventual winners.
