Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today reaffirms the societal commitments that underpin its 11-year tenure as the title sponsor of the Marathon de Paris. The event, taking place on April 7, 2024, brings together runners from across the globe in support of a more sustainable and equitable future.

Since becoming title sponsor in 2013, the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris has set the pace for accelerating the transition to a cleaner and fairer world while promoting the positive impact of sport on people and communities. Encouraging people from all backgrounds and abilities to take part in sports and promoting physical activity helps build a healthier and more inclusive future for all generations.

Schneider Electric’s long-standing commitment to sustainability has championed various initiatives aimed at reducing the race’s environmental impact, such as recycling clothes, food waste, and other materials collected on the day. Since 2019, the Marathon de Paris has offset 100% of the race’s carbon emissions through the Livelihoods Fund, which supports projects benefitting rural communities in Kenya.

“Taking part in the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris is a journey of perseverance and endurance where we celebrate each runner’s dedication, determination, and resilience,” said Chris Leong, Schneider Electric’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We are thankful for our 11-year partnership with A.S.O., marked by a joint purpose of showing how one of the world’s largest marathons can be a leading force in delivering an equitable and sustainable iconic event. It takes a collective commitment to turn ambitions into actions and win the race for a decarbonised world.”

Approximately 55,000 men and women are expected on the starting line in Paris this year, with 7,700 Schneider Electric customers, partners, and employees registered to take part. The marathon coincides with Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit Paris, taking place on April 3-4 in Pavilion 4, Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Registrations to attend the event or watch the livestream are open.

Schneider Electric also sponsors the Paris Run for All 4km charity run held on April 6, which attracts participants of all abilities, with all proceeds funding sporting activities for children with disabilities. Registrations for Paris Run for All are open and available to everyone aged 12 and over.

The Marathon de Paris also continues to boost gender equality by recognising female and male runners in the same way. For example, equal prize money is awarded to the top men and women finishers and the women’s race starts before the men’s so that all the winners are broadcast live crossing the finish line and receiving their medals.
