Finding young, good-quality mining equipment and trucks can be a challenge. But here is a tip, check out upcoming Ritchie Bros. auctions in Ocaña (Spain) and Dubai (UAE) in June, because they include heavy Caterpillar mining trucks, bulldozers, wheel loaders and many other items you might be interested in. At Ritchie Bros., you can be confident that all items are sold on the auction days without minimum bids or reserve prices, making it a transparent and efficient way to get the items you need.

More than 120 heavy Caterpillar equipment items and trucks are included in auctions in Ocaña (June 4  to 5) and Dubai (June 10 to 11), including unused 777G and 773E rock trucks, unused 14M motor graders, unused D10T and D8T bulldozers, 966H wheel loaders, 740B articulated dump trucks and more. And that’s just one brand – many other premium brands are also featured in these auctions such as Hitachi, Volvo, Komatsu and more.

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers is the world’s largest auctioneer of heavy equipment and trucks. In 2013 alone, more than $3.8-billion of machinery and trucks was sold at the company’s globally held auctions. Ritchie Bros. is one of the largest sources in the world for used and unused equipment, tractors and trucks. From small generator sets to big mining trucks, all kinds of industries sell and buy at Ritchie Bros. The company was founded in 1958 in Canada and over the last five decades became a market leader by offering powerful solutions to construction and mining businesses of all sizes and sorts. Today, hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world benefit from selling and buying items and trucks at the auctions. Because of their broad offer of machinery, Ritchie Bros. auctions are frequently referred to as ‘heavy equipment supermarkets’.

UNRESERVED

Ritchie Bros. is known for its fair, transparent auction methods. All auctions are unreserved, which means there are no minimum bids or reserve prices on the items being sold – every item sells to the highest bidder on auction day, regardless of price. Because there are no set prices and no artificial price manipulations at Ritchie Bros. auctions, buyers can be confident that they are paying fair market value for their purchases. Only the bidders set the prices, not the sellers.

HOW IT WORKS

First, equipment buyers find items they need at www.rbauction.com. Detailed equipment information and photos are available here and items can be easily found using search filters, which include equipment category, year, brand, model, auction location and more. In the weeks before an auction, the seller brings his equipment to the auction site. This is great for buyers as they do not have to rely solely on other people’s inspection reports and can personally inspect items during the auction viewing days (usually a few days before the auction). Viewing days are also a great opportunity to register for the upcoming auction.

On the auction day, many people prefer to bid in person in the auction theater. Attending an auction in person is an exciting experience because mobile equipment and trucks are driven across a ramp, facing the bidding crowd, while the items are being sold. The auctioneer – Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers are considered to be among the best in the world – calls out the asking prices for each item. With each bid that comes in, the auctioneer raises his asking price with an increment. To place a bid, the bidder raises his hand (or catalogue) when he agrees with the current asking price. When no more bids are placed by the bidders, the auctioneer sells the item to the highest bidder. He now is the new owner.

If bidders want to join but cannot make it to bid in person, they can join live online via the www.rbauction.com. Online bidders register in advance on the website, log in on auction day and follow the auction from the comfort of their home or office. When the item of their interest is up next, they can place bids by hitting the bid-button on their screen.

Successful bidders can use additional and affordable Ritchie Bros. services if they want, such as shipping, equipment refurbishing, equipment insurance and more. For more information and an overview of equipment items and trucks that will be sold at upcoming auctions, visit www.rbauction.com.
