PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Battery metals company Pan Asia Metals has inked a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) to investigate a standalone lithium conversion facility in Vietnam.

The ASX-listed company on Friday said that the MoU with Vietnamese company VinEs Strategy Solution would span an initial 36 months, unless extended by mutual consent, and would see the companies evaluate an initial 20 000 t/y to 25 000 t/y lithium carbonate or lithium hydroxide operation.

A positive feasibility study on the proposed project would lead to a definitive agreement.

“We are thrilled to be working with VinES, an environmental and social govenance-focused electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturer, in the evaluation of a standalone lithium conversion facility in Vietnam,” said Pan Asia Metals chairperson and MD Paul Lock.

“This is a significant step towards achieving our strategy focused on developing an integrated supply chain to cost-effectively deliver relevant and in-demand products to the Li-ion battery market in South-East Asia. As a company with a strong focus on South-East Asia, we believe that VinGroup’s dedication to green mobility and technology makes VinES an ideal partner for Pan Asia Metals. We are excited about the potential to contribute to the development of the lithium supply chain in Vietnam through this collaboration, and in achieving our shared goals with VinES.”
