The new Cat® D8R Dozer features increased horsepower and a larger standard blade for greater productivity in mines of all types. The new dozer also offers a range of optional technologies to help operators get more work done in less time. A more efficient powertrain and cooling system increase ambient capability by as much as 20 percent compared to the previous model.

Equipped with the largest standard blade in its class at 10.3 m3, the dozer moves up to 13 percent more material per pass. High tensile strength steel construction and a strong box-section design stand up to the most extreme applications.

A new electronically controlled transmission offers smoother shifting easy operation with soft touch shift buttons. Field-proven features such as elevated sprocket, differential steering and planetary power shift transmission with high efficiency torque divider deliver powerful, durable and reliable operation to provide superior uptime and productivity.

The quiet, air-conditioned cab with integrated rollover protection structure (ROPS) provides operators excellent all-around visibility to enhance safety and productivity. In addition to showing machine operation status, diagnostic events and modes of operation, the primary display is rear-camera ready for added safety.

Simple rotary dials control engine throttle speeds. The bi-directional feature allows the operator to preselect forward/reverse gears for reduced operator effort and improved efficiency.

Technology to Finish Faster
D8R customers can increase productivity and grading accuracy by selecting available electro-hydraulic controls, which reduce operator effort, improve precision and response, and enable Cat Connect GRADE technologies. These advanced tools help operators reach target grade faster and more accurately in fewer passes.

Standard with electro-hydraulic controls, Cat Slope Indicate displays real-time machine cross-slope and fore/aft orientation, allowing operators to work more accurately on slopes. Optional Cat GRADE with Slope Assist automatically maintains established blade position to finish jobs faster. Cat AccuGrade™, a dealer-installed grade control system option, offers the choice of Laser, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) or Universal Total Station (UTS) to offer the right level of accuracy to meet job specifications.

In addition to grade control technologies, the Cat Product Link™ telematics system (where available) provides timely, pertinent data—such as location, hours, fuel usage, productivity, idle time, and diagnostic codes—that is easily accessed through the online VisionLink® interface. The system helps machine owners achieve more effective asset management, improved productivity, and lower operating costs.

Proven Cat Engine
Offering more than a decade of proven reliability in a wide range of applications from the arctic cold to desert heat, the Cat C15 ACERT™ engine produces net power of 242 kW, powering the dozer through the most demanding applications. An Auto Shift feature automatically downshifts to the most efficient gear based on load, improving dozing efficiency and fuel economy. Ambient capability is improved as well, with a more efficient powertrain, hydraulic fan and new radiator configuration. 

The new D8R also offers ease of service. Features such as wide engine access doors minimize maintenance time. Optional service features like ecology drains, ground level fast fuel system and high speed oil change help to further simplify maintenance tasks.
