Muisvlak alluvial diamond treatment plant, South Africa
Name and Location
Muisvlak alluvial diamond treatment plant, Northern Cape, South Africa.
Client
Alexkor.
Project Description
Alexkor plans to re-establish a production node on the higher terrace of the Muisvlak mining area.
The new alluvial diamond treatment facility will replace the existing facility that was originally intended to be restarted in 2006, but was halted owing to techno-economic and management complications.
The system will be designed to treat an estimated 1.36-million tons of run-of-mine material a year when operated on a continuous shift basis.
This equates to a nameplate production throughput requirement of 200 t/h of –250 mm material.
The facility will also dispose of slimes to the existing residue disposal facilities and coarse tailings to an interim stockpile.
