Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources to host the inaugural “Digging Deeper” consultative forum during Botswana Resource Sector Conference 2015

Company Announcement - The 12th annual Botswana Resource Sector Conference takes place on the 9th and 10th June 2015 at the Walmont Hotel, Gaborone. Honourable Onkokame Kitso Mokaila, Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, will open the conference at 0900 on Tuesday 9th. A full agenda will see presentations from a significant proportion of the leading resource sector companies in Botswana.

In a significant development, this year sees the launch of the inaugural “Digging Deeper” consultative forum highlighting the Botswana Government’s willingness to engage with the Botswana Resource Sector, and its key participants. The “Digging Deeper forum is being held on Wednesday 10th at 15h00. The principal objective is for prospectors, miners and other stakeholders to raise, and discuss different issues that affect them as the industry. 

The workshop will be led by senior Ministry official including Nchidzi Mmolawa, DPS Minerals, Ofentse Ditsele, Deputy Director (Operations) Dept of Mines, Mogomotsi Nyepetsi, Deputy Director (Licensing), Dept of Mines, Kenneth Kerekang Director Dept of Energy and Tiyapo Ngwisanyi, Director, Dept of Geological Survey and this exciting addition to the agenda will provide a chance for some very real dialogue.  The Ministry will be available for views, challenges and suggestions that the industry encounters in their operations and their recommendations on how to improve some of the services for the companies in the minerals sector. The Ministry will open the session with a Government overview of the industry and then the different sectors – coal bed methane, coal, base metals, diamonds, industrial minerals and soda ash and precious metals will follow with their short presentations highlighting their concerns. These will then be addressed by the Ministry officials and comments from the floor will be welcomed.

With many of Botswana’s leading participants in its resource sector attending this additional forum will be of huge value to all interested resource parties and promises to make for some lively, interactive  debate. Registration is still open for the conference www.capconferences.com
