To ensure optimum skills within the ranks of its sub-contractors, Master Builders Association North member, Liviero Building, is sending previously disadvantaged sub-contractors along with its own staff for intensive training at MBA North.

Sarah Mnyandu, Education, Training & Transformation Administrator at MBA North, says Liviero Building has, as part of its commitment to Enterprise Development, already sent 10 selected learners to MBA North training on building contracts presented by the Joint Building Contracts Committee (JBCC). “Liviero also sent eight delegates to the MBA North Project Management course, and another six to our First Aid Level 1 training,” Mnyandu said.
“What’s more, the company has committed itself to send Liviero sub-contractors and its own staff members to MBA North training courses in Effective Time Management, Business Writing Skills, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, Computer Skills, Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment, and Health & Safety courses in future,” she added.

Both the MBA North’s Construction Health & Safety department, and the MBA North Education, Training and Transformation section handled the Liviero training.  Brad Boertje, Managing Director of The Liviero Group, said the Group is committed to the education and upliftment of sub-contractors and suppliers who were previously disadvantaged. “The Liviero Group, through its own initiatives - and the efforts of its subsidiaries - including Liviero Building, sponsor various Enterprise Development programmes throughout the year. Liviero Building found the MBA North training programmes to be well presented, of valuable content, and well-priced. We have had positive feedback from the sub-contractors who attended the courses, and we look forward to utilising their newly-acquired skills in our operations.”

Mohau Mphomela, executive director of MBA North, praised the pioneering initiative shown by the Liviero Group. “MBA North is committed to fostering the skills and profitability of smaller players in the building sector, particularly those who were previously disadvantaged. We are , in fact, currently involved in a variety of new initiatives aimed at assisting smaller contractors in all the provinces – Gauteng, Limpopo, North West and Mpumalanga – where MBA North operates. The Liviero Group has set a shining example for other MBA members to also be more proactive in uplifting the skills of the sub-contractors engaged for their operations,” Mphomela stated.
