The Sedgman Africa team has picked up again where it left off late last year with the Khoemacau operation in Botswana. After completing the Feasibility Study for Khoemacau’s Zone 5 Copper Mine 35km south west of Maun in Northern Botswana, the team has been awarded two studies which will assist Khoemacau in developing their copper assets in Botswana.
Khoemacau recently acquired the Boseto mine from the insolvent Discovery Metals, and are considering refurbishing the concentrator plant and upgrading it from 8 000 tpd to 10 000 tpd, with feed to be hauled from their Zone 5 mine, 35 kms away.
Khoemacau Operation in Botswana This is the focus of the first feasibility study, whilst the second study, a prefeasibility study, has as its focus to determine to optimal tonnage that can be mined at Zone 5 and treated in an adjacent concentrator. This is essentially a revision of the existing DFS recently completed for Khoemacau by the South African office of Sedgman last year.
The award of these two important studies highlights the confidence Cupric Canyon Capital, the parent company of Khoemacau, has in Sedgman’s ability and capacity to deliver credible feasibility studies. However, this is only half the story, Sedgman Africa have a long track record of converting these development opportunities into real construction and operational projects.
The Sedgman approach to having focused business lines of “Create”, “Build” and “Operate” has assisted offices in growing regions like Africa with global functional support allowing the local office to concentrate on the client and project requirements without any capacity limits.
