Assa Abloy SA (Pty) Ltd  (0.06 MB)

ASSA ABLOY is determined to give people the freedom to live their lives the way they should - without fear and anxiety. The first step is securing your home and the people and possessions in it… UNION, part of the ASSA ABLOY Group of Companies, is one of the best-known brands in the entire locking industry. For over a century, the name UNION and Locks and Hardware have been synonymous with reliable, high quality locks and hardware, particularly in the contract, commercial, industrial, residential and specification sectors. The UNION pedigree is built on experience, high standards and building relationships. Today, the distinguished UNION brand provides an extensive range of products for residential, commercial, industrial and contract applications and is widely recognised in over 80 countries.

UNION’s security solutions for private homes are adapted for a wide range of environments from apartment complexes to individual family homes. Locks and security systems for residential purposes must offer protection against burglary and theft, but must also be user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. From entrance doors using traditional mechanical locks to cutting-edge digital door locks, security solutions for residential applications can be suited to individual needs for safety and security. “To assess your security needs, you need to imagine you are the perpetrator and think about how you would gain access,” suggests Greg Scott, National Sales Manager, Wholesale for ASSA ABLOY. Scott further adds, “While it is important to recognise such concerns, one must bear in mind that the majority of incidents are unprofessional opportunists that strike when the property is empty and easier to access. By upgrading and taking security precautions, you can deter burglars and thereby protect your family and assets.”

Purchasing the correct locks for their application is the first start to securing your home. However this is not enough...
• Use the security you have in place: Be mindful of locking doors when not in use and before going to bed
• Don’t be complacent: Don’t leave your keys in the lock and don’t hide keys under a mat or garden ornament. Remember that this is the first place a burglar would look
• Vacations: If you are going away, cancel your paper and get a neighbour to check your house regularly and to clear the post and if need be maintain the lawn
• Outbuildings: Sheds and garages could not only contain valuable equipment, but may also be a source of tools useful to a burglar
• Mark your property: Mark property permanently as this not only will allow for easy identification in the case of items being recovered, but will also serve as a deterrent
• Check callers: Ask for proof of identity before letting anyone in and don’t feel afraid to verify a call.
• Neighbourhood Watch: Check if there is one operating in your area
• Seek advice from professionals like UNION: Look for the highest level of security that the homeowner can afford that are SABS Certified. These locks have passed a series of strenuous tests to prove their reliability and durability.

UNION products are designed in South Africa by highly skilled and experienced project teams and are at the forefront in quality and performance. For true peace of mind, UNION offers a comprehensive UNION guarantee.
