Engen Monte Vista Convenience Centre supports Ruyterwacht Senior Centre
Engen Monte Vista Convenience Centre in Cape Town demonstrated its commitment to community involvement and social upliftment on Thursday, May 29th when a cheque to the value of R10 000 was presented to the Ruyterwacht Senior Centre.
Dealer Chris Faure said he decided to support the centre through Engen’s Dealer Community Partnership Programme, as he felt that the aged were often forgotten and needed a special focus. The DCPP is a partnership between Engen corporate and service station dealers which contributes to the development of disadvantaged communities. Outcomes include funding of specific initiatives that uplift, educate and support disadvantaged communities in the areas around Engen’s service stations. The Ruyterwacht Senior Centre supports 295 senior citizens from all race, gender and religious groups.
“We decided to support their Meals Scheme, whereby a healthy meal is provided to senior citizens twice a week. We also donate surplus Woolworths food to the Centre,” says Faure. General manager of Engen Sales & Marketing, Joe Mahlo, commented: “We welcome this show of community support. Engen encourages and supports our dealers to get involved with their local communities and social upliftment initiatives.”
Engen’s brand activities have earned it increasing recognition over the last few years. The company retained its ranking as the ‘Coolest Petroleum Brand’ for the third successive year in the Sunday Times Generation Next Youth Survey in 2013, which tracks youths’ consumer preferences and behaviour. In the same year it also scooped the Sunday Times ‘Top Brands’ award for the third consecutive year.
