Engen and Grain SA renew 37-year managing partnership of NAMPO Harvest Day

Engen Petroleum, a leading supplier of fuel and lubricants to the agricultural sector, reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with Grain SA to co-manage NAMPO Harvest Day, falling on 13 to 16 May this year.
NAMPO Harvest Day is the largest agricultural exhibition in the southern hemisphere, and attracts interest from a wide spectrum of stakeholders in farming, government, supplier industries and international markets.
Sponsorship
“As with the previous 36 years of the partnership, Engen will sponsor staff to man the gates and sell tickets at the show”, says Polla Westcott, Engen Sales Manager.
This year, for the first time, Engen lubricants and fuels are collaborating, and the company will exhibit its full range of both product lines aimed at agri-customers, as well as a range of vintage tractors – a unique feature of the show that has attracted enthusiasts for years.
New packaging
Paul Leask, Agricultural Lubricants Sales Manager at Engen, says the company is further launching a new 20-litre container for its lubricants. “It will replace all current 20-litre pail variants – the 20-litre tin, jerry can and plastic round buckets,” he says.
Leask says the pack is more stable and cost-effective than steel or plastic pails, and also less prone to scuffing and product damage. Units inter-lock for more efficient storage, as will be evident in Engen’s impressive bulk display of 160 buckets at the show.
Agriculture is number 1
The agricultural sector has been a strong growth industry for Engen’s automotive lubricants business over the past five years, with one in every two SA farmers depending on the company’s leading local expertise and technical excellence, continues Leask.
This focus is borne out by Engen’s long-standing association with the show and Grain SA – since 1978.
“Our involvement started off on a much smaller scale, but grew from strength to strength. The Engen and NAMPO brands are practically one in this part of the world,” he says.
Show growth
Jannie de Villiers, CEO of Grain SA, says on average, more than 70 000 people attend the NAMPO Harvest Day every year, and the organisers will accommodate more than 650 exhibitors again this year, spread out over a 23 hectare precinct.
All major truck and tractor companies exhibit, and the major oil companies are in attendance, with outdoor leisure, cooking and fashion elements on the periphery.
