Metallurgical coal miner Corsa Coal on Wednesday announced that Peter Merritts had stepped down as CEO and director to take up the position of COO.
The company, which trades on the TSX-V, stressed that Merritt’s decision was not related to any dispute or disagreement with the company, but rather for succession planning purposes and future retirement plans.
The board appointed Robert Schneid as president and CEO to succeed Merritts. He has 34 years of experience working in the coal and electric utility industries in various roles for companies such as Prospect Mining and Development Company, Walter Energy, Patriot Coal, Oxbow Carbon, Consol Energy and Costain Coal.
Schneid has a MSc degree in Mineral and Energy Resource Economics from West Virginia University and a BSc degree in Energy Management from West Liberty University.
