Company Announcement: BHP Billiton Donates US$500 000 for Flood Relief in Mozambique

BHP Billiton has donated US$500,000 to the Mozambique Red Cross to assist with humanitarian disaster relief following the recent floods in Mozambique. The donation will be made by BHP Billiton Sustainable Communities and the Company will match additional contributions made by employees. BHP Billiton CEO Marius Kloppers said, “BHP Billiton is committed to supporting the communities in which it operates and we hope these funds can make a difference to Mozambique’s recovery.” Mozal Asset President Danie Murray said “Our thoughts go out to all those affected by these floods. We hope this donation will help communities in Maputo and beyond.” BHP Billiton employs around 2,200 staff and contractors at its Mozal aluminium smelter in the Maputo province of southern Mozambique. BHP Billiton Sustainable Communities is a charity established by BHP Billiton as part of its community investment program.
