The Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training will this week conduct oversight visits to Wits University, and Further Education and Training institutions in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

The three-day visits, which get underway on Monday (16 July) and end on Wednesday (18 September), are part of the Committee`s ongoing countrywide oversight programme which is aimed at assessing, among other things, student enrolment and challenges faced by the institutions, allocation of the NSFAS bursary/loans to students, transformation plans and admission policies at the identified institutions.

During these visits, members of the Committee will meet with various stakeholders including the management, Student Representative Councils (SRCs) and unions representing the staff.
Since the beginning of the year, the Committee has conducted oversight at several institutions of higher learning including the North West University, University of Venda, University of Limpopo – Turfloop Campus, all FETs in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the North West.
