Commissioning of the Honeymoon uranium project, in South Australia, is proceeding to plan, with key metrics exceeding feasibility study forecasts, Boss Energy MD Duncan Craib said on Wednesday.

The outperformance, he said, was reflected in the results of the uranium-rich pregnant leach solution from the wellfields, ion exchange (IX) column resin loading and high-grade IX column eluate.

The focus is now on optimising the IX, eluation and precipitation processes to achieve continuous operations.

“We are very pleased with the commissioning progress to date,” commented Craib, adding that the early production results provided confidence that Honeymoon was on track to achieve its ramp-up targets.

The ramp-up timing has been designed to align with a rising uranium market.

“We believe we will be hitting our straps as the uranium price rises in the near term,” he said.
