Black Business Council Supports Small Businesses at the SA Industry & Technology Fair
Company Announcement - Black Business Council, the voice of black business, has thrown its weight behind Empowertec Africa, the three-day expo which focuses on addressing sustainable enterprise development, to build viable businesses and committed entrepreneurs from disadvantaged communities. This is the first time the BBC will be participating in the expo, which takes place from 20 to 22 May 2015 at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand.
Empowertec Africa is a small business opportunities showcase, and forms part of the 12-shows-in-one SA Industry and Technology Fair.
Empowertec: A Great platform to Promote Business Development
“We are excited to be part of this show, as it aligns perfectly with our focus of promoting the incubations of small businesses and the black industrialists development programme in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry, “ says Ndaba Ntsele, President of the Black Business Council.
The Black Business Council is the over-arching confederation representing professional and business associations and chambers, the main purpose being to lobby government on policy and advocacy, in order to accelerate the participation of black South Africans in the mainstream economy
Their focus is on job creation, skills acqusition, mentorship, knowledge tranfer and the creation of enabling platforms and opportunities for committed entrepreneurs.
“To this end we have prioritised the following sectors: manufacturing, energy, water and waste treatment, recycling and the green economy; these sectors have concurrent government support programmes to which we can add impetus,” continues Ntsele.
“We are excited to have the Black Business Council on board Empowertec Africa, as this will help us improve the show even more and give exhibitors the perfect platform to showcase their products and services to black entrepreneurs adn professionals – a booming market segment,” says John Thomson from Exhibition Management Services, organisers of Empowertec Africa. “The expo is the perfect platform for the BBC to find business opportunities and contacts for their members, as well as promote small business development. “This year’s show will be even bigger and better with more opportunities for small businesses,” Thomson concludes.
