Bambanani-Siphumelele project.

Location
Welkom, Free State, South Africa.

Project Owner/s
Multinational mining and metals processing group Sibanye-Stillwater.

Project Description
The brownfield platinum group metals project involves the extension of the Bambanani decline, allowing for extraction of Siphumelele upper group two reserves from low-cost mechanised Bambanani infrastructure.

The Siphumelele vertical shaft provides more efficient man and materials logistics, resulting in significant cost benefits for both operations. The project is expected to extend the life of both mines, and is forecast to deliver quick payback of invested capital.
