Project Description
The BRPM Phase III project is providing further replacement for Merensky production at the North shaft complex through the extension of the existing decline from Level 10 to Level 15 at the mine boundary. At steady state, Phase III will maintain the production level of North shaft at about 100 000 t/m.

R1.409-billion.

Duration
The project started in November 2010 and is scheduled for completion in 2017.

Latest Developments
The project is 88% complete, against a plan of 81%, with development being 1 158 m, or ten months, ahead of schedule at the end of December 31, 2015.

This has enabled RBPlat to divert some of its most experienced development resources to the Styldrift I development programme and defer the construction of the last two levels (14 and 15)at BRPM to 2017, which will reduce capital expenditure in 2016.

On Budget and on Time?
RBPlat reports that deferring the construction of the last two levels at BRPM will have no impact on the handover dates for those levels or the mine extraction plan as project completion remains on schedule for 2017.

The project remains below budget, with expenditure in2015 amounting to R203-million and a cumulative amount of R992-million for the project to date.
