BRPM Joint Venture (JV), comprising Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) and Anglo American Platinum (Amplats).

Project Description
The BRPM Phase 3 project is providing further replacement for Merensky production at the North shaft complex through the extension of the existing decline from level 10 to level 15 at the mine boundary.

At steady state, Phase 3 will maintain the production level of North shaft at about 100 000 t/m.

Value
R1.409-billion.

Duration
The project started in November 2010 and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2017.

Latest Developments
The Phase 3 project was 57% complete at the end of 2013, compared with a forecasted completion of 52%.

The cumulative project expenditure at year-end was R585-million, with a R40-million declared saving to date. The project has a current estimated saving on completion of R100-million against the approved project budget of R1.409-billion.

The project is forecasted to be completed four months ahead of schedule, with an estimated saving of R100-million.
