Australia’s leading mining and resource event will return to Sydney in 2024 following the extraordinary success of the 10th anniversary conference.

This year’s International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC) attracted over 9,000 attendees from 120 countries, 600 speakers and more than 500 exhibitors.

Importantly, it facilitated more than 3,000 face to face meetings, including many small Australian companies. These meetings underscore the importance of IMARC as a forum where industry comes together to do business.

Indeed, collaboration has been the buzz word this week, with a series of compelling presentations, panels, roundtables and sideline discussions tacking issues such as:

Meeting the world’s growing demand for resources;

Meeting community expectations on sustainability and transparency;

Making safe, sustainable and productive industry;

The race to secure Critical Minerals;

Minimising environmental impacts;

Improving engagement with communities;

Promoting mining’s role in helping the world meet emissions reductions goals;

Connecting innovation with capital;

Leading the conversation on ESG goals;

Attracting and skilling a diverse workforce of the future; and

Creating social value and economic participation in communities.

Chief Executive Officer of Beacon Events, Daniel Kirwin, said IMARC continues to grow year-on-year, thanks to the support of its long-standing Founding Partners and the delegates, sponsors, supporters and stakeholders across the world who come together to share ideas, innovations, problems and solutions. He said the record numbers at this year’s event cemented IMARC as one of the top global forums for miners, investors, METS companies and governments.

“Together with our Host Partner, the NSW Government, we are delighted to announce IMARC will return to Sydney in 2024, on an even bigger floor plan and with even greater ambitions for a program that continues to reflect the priorities of the industry,” he said.

Beacon Events Chief Operating Officer Anita Richards said: “From modest beginnings 10 years ago, IMARC has become one of the world’s most important industry conferences and Australia’s largest business event. For that, we are grateful to the Victorian Government, AustMine, AusIMM, Mines & Money for their faith and support, and to our long-standing industry partners, sponsors, attendees and stakeholders across the world.”

On collaboration, Daniel Kirwin said: “The strong theme that has emerged this week is that the world needs more minerals and commodities than ever to achieve our decarbonisation goals, but the industry must earn and retain the trust of the community to do the right thing socially and environmentally. This message has been consistent throughout IMARC’s 10 years,” he said.

“The ability to bring global leaders to IMARC reflects the maturity of an industry that is prepared to not only come together to talk about the big challenges, but to bring real solutions,” he said.
