PERTH (miningweekly.com) - Project house Ausenco has secured a three-year contract to manage a portfolio of work at gold miner Newcrest Mining’s Lihir operation, in Papua New Guinea.

Under the terms of the contract, Ausenco would provide project delivery services to support ongoing capital projects, with the services delivered under an engineering, procurement, construction and management contract.

The contract involved service delivery over a number of project phases.

CEO Zimi Meka said in a statement on Tuesday that the contract with Newcrest was a testament to the company’s long and successful relationship with the gold miner.

“Growing our levels of recurring revenue is a strategic priority for the business and this contract will add significantly to our sustainable earnings base over the next three years.”

Lihir has one of the largest known gold deposits in the world and has produced more than nine-million ounces of gold since operations started in 1983.
