JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – TSX- and Aim-listed Amara Mining has been given the go-ahead to build a haul road to connect its Kalsaka and Sega gold projects, in Burkina Faso.

The West Africa-focused gold miner, which received the environmental and construction permits required for the 20 km road, expected to truck material from the Sega deposit to the Kalsaka heap leach plant from the third quarter of the year.

The full environmental permit for the Sega gold project was expected in the second quarter, followed by the mining permit six weeks after.

Output from Sega was expected to start during the third quarter of the year, before Kalsaka’s remaining reserves were exhausted, ensuring uninterrupted production.

The final negotiations with community groups were expected to be completed in the near-term, after which an agreed environmental and social compensation report would be submitted for approval by the Burkina Faso government.
