Alcyone hopes for increased output at Twin Hills
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Silver miner Alcyone Resources was hoping to increase the production rate at its Twin Hills silver mine, in southern Queensland, to some 25 000 oz a week following the recent commissioning of the primary crusher upgrade.
The miner said on Thursday that the crusher was now operating at a nameplate capacity of 1.1-million tonnes a year at the front of the circuit, with the plant delivering 45 000 t of leaching at a rate of 130 t/h or 96 000 t/m.
Post the commissioning period, some 98 381 oz of silver ore were stacked, which was in line with the current schedule, and which Alcyone said would underpin ongoing leaching in the coming months.
Once the heap leach pads have access to ongoing sustained higher stacked ounces, Alcyone expected to achieve a production rate of 25 000 oz a week, compared with more than 15 000 oz shipped during the last week of December.
Alcyone told shareholders on Thursday that the mining rate from the Twin Hills mine has also increased to meet the new demand schedule from the crusher, with the mine delivering 73 617 oz and moving 136 860 t from the pit during the same period.
Mining has now also accessed higher-grade blocks, with the next ore block anticipated to produce in excess of 142 000 oz of ore feed for stacking.
