Miner dies at Lonmin's JV Pandora shaft following fall-of-ground accident

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – A rock-drill operator has died at Lonmin's EPL 3 Joint Venture (JV) Pandora shaft following a fall-of-ground accident on Wednesday, the platinum miner confirms.

Goodman Mangisa was the only fatality; no other employees were injured in the incident.

Lonmin reported that the deceased's family was receiving support and an investigation into the accident was under way, in conjunction with the relevant unions and the Department of Mineral Resources.
