JSE-listed Impala Platinum (Implats) has acquired a further 0.02% of the share capital of Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat).

Implats now owns 56.43% of RBPlat’s shares in issue.

The company has since the end of 2021 been gradually increasing its shareholding in the company and recently acquired the Public Investment Corporation’s 9.2% shareholding in RBPlat, in an effort to acquire all of the shares.

The final condition precedent to Implats’ buyout offer to RBPlat shareholders was fulfilled on June 30 and RBPlat shareholders have been given until July 21 to accept the offer.

Northam Platinum, which had also previously sought to acquire all of RBPlat’s shares, holds 35.4% of RBPlat’s shares in issue.
