JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – An employee at Harmony Gold’s Tshepong mine, near Welkom, in the Free State was fatally injured in a tramming accident.

The company noted in a statement on Monday that investigations into the accident, which brought the number of fatal accidents at Harmony’s operations this year to eight, were under way.

“It is with great sadness that we learned of the fatality. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the deceased,” Harmony CEO Graham Briggs said.
