Sweden-headquartered mining and smelting company Boliden confirmed on Monday that the industrial action under way in Finland would impact on its operations in that country and that, if carried out in its entirety, would have a €10-million negative impact on operating profit.

The Industrial Union, which organises workers in the metals chemicals and wood products sectors, embarked on a three-day strike on Monday.

Boliden confirmed that the strike was affecting its copper and nickel smelter in Harjavalta, the zinc smelter in Kokkola and the nickel and copper mine in Kevitsa.

In parallel, industrial actions were also under way at national level among electricians that affects the zinc smelter in Kokkola.
