PERTH (miningweekly.com) - ASX- and JSE-listed gold miner Gold One has reported a fatality at its Cooke 4 operation, in South Africa.

One other employee was also injured in the blasting incident.

The miner said on Friday that a full investigation would be conducted at the Cooke 4 operation site, and as a precautionary measure, the company had issued an instruction to suspend all blasting operations.

At the end of the last year, the Cooke 4 shaft was at the centre of turmoil as workers took part in illegal industrial action. Operations at Cooke 4 were resumed in November 2012, with the miner re-employing dismissed workers.
