The stand of the World Coal Association and its members on a just energy transition is a display of important pragmatism at this point in the world’s fight against climate change. Chairperson July Ndlovu must be applauded for his call on the energy sector to work together to ensure that the planet arrives at a collective energy destination.

Delivering a keynote address at the Southern African Coal Conference, Ndlovu was also insistent that clean coal must form part of the climate change solution in view of coal being poised to probably remain the world’s largest single source of electricity until about 2040.
