Worldwide supplier of advanced tech- nologies, products and services for the metals and mining industries, Tenova, has concluded the sale of its South African engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) business Bateman Projects.

The company announced the successful demerger in April, after having reported entering into final negotiations with lead- ing inspection, verification, testing and certification company SGS to sell its EPCM business operations in October last year. The Bateman Modular Process Plant busi- ness and expertise are part of this transaction.

Tenova CEO Andre Lovato says in an October statement that the company will further develop activities in the mining and minerals industry by focusing on the equipment and process technology sector through openpit mining and underground solutions provider Takraf and solid/liquid separation and mineral processing applications specialist Delkor. “Both companies are recognised partners [in] the industry with strong market positions,” he comments.

Bateman Projects specialises in provid- ing process plant design and engineering, project management and commissioning and optimisation services for mineral processing plants, as well as various minerals, including gold, iron-ore, copper, uranium and coal.

Based in Johannesburg and active throughout South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, as well as providing specialised project services in many parts of the world, the business employs 250 experts and staff and gene- rated revenues in excess of €30-million in the financial year ended June 30, 2015.
