Drive solutions provider SEW-EURODRIVE has made significant strides in extending its footprint across Africa, and this expansion is set to continue thanks to its unwavering commitment to providing tailored drive solutions along with exceptional support. Recognised as the foremost authority in drive and control technologies across the African continent, SEW-EURODRIVE South Africa has garnered a stellar reputation for its precision-engineered German products, which are held in high regard throughout the region.

Central to the company’s exceptional customer support is its extensive infrastructure and operational capabilities, combined with its proximity to customer sites. Operating from its state-of-the-art 26 000 m2 facility in Aeroton, in Johannesburg, SEW-EURODRIVE currently serves a vast network of 23 African countries from its South African base. Additionally, the company boasts regional branches in Nelspruit, Durban, Gqeberha and Cape Town.

The Aeroton facility serves as a critical hub in efficiently catering to the burgeoning African market, thanks to its comprehensive stock availability and rapid turnaround times for bespoke solutions. Within this facility lies not only the main administrative headquarters for the continent but also an assembly plant dedicated to industrial gears and electric drives. It also houses expanded central warehousing and repair facilities, encompassing assembly and repair operations for variable speed drives, automated guided vehicles and Servo motor technology.

Embracing a proven branch model, SEW-EURODRIVE has already established branches in strategic growth areas in Africa including Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya and Tanzania, with further branch openings slated for 2024. This operational model delivers mutual benefits, enhancing customer support and contributing to the host countries’ development.

Behind SEW-EURODRIVE’s success in Africa lies a team of highly skilled mechanical, electrical and mechatronic engineers who provide invaluable technical support to both branches and customers across the continent. Their expertise ensures that SEW-EURODRIVE maintains its reputation for precision engineering and customer-centric drive solutions throughout Africa. In addition, 2024 will see another exciting expansion enabling the company to even better service the market.
