Gold mining company Iamgold has continued with its board renewal, announcing on Monday the appointment of Rio Tinto global head for health, safety, environment and security Dr Ann Masse as a director.

Besides Masse, recent additions to the board include Kevin O’Kane, who joined in September, as well as Anne Marie Toutant and Deborah Starkman, who joined in December.

Iamgold’s board now comprised nine members of which 33% (38% of independent directors) were female with an average tenure of 4.3 years, chairperson Don Charter said on Monday.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Dr. Masse to the Iamgold board of directors. Her extensive business experience and her expertise and depth in health and safety, environment and security matters, gained from her experience with global mining and specialty products leaders, will provide insightful and meaningful guidance and governance over these critical areas,” said Charter.
