PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Resolute Mining has reported a significant decline in quarterly production after placing its Golden Pride operation, in Tanzania, closed.

During the three months to March, Resolute produced 77 976 oz of gold, which was well below the 98 132 oz of gold produced in the previous quarter.

The Golden Pride operation yielded 792 oz from the process plant cleanup.

Meanwhile, production at the Syama operation, in Mali, also declined during the quarter, with the mine producing 39 314 oz during the three months to March, compared with the 43 918 oz produced in the previous quarter.

Resolute said on Wednesday that the lower gold production at Syama resulted from a reduced throughput at the mill, owing to a failure of the motor on the secondary mill. The loss of the mill also affected the grind and circuit stability, resulting in a lower recovery rate during the quarter.

Meanwhile, at the Ravenswood operation, in Australia, production increased to 37 870 oz during the quarter, compared with the 33 629 oz delivered in the previous three months.

The increased gold production resulted from a higher head grade, as higher grades were accessed at the Mt Wright operation.

Resolute on Wednesday maintained its full year production outlook of 345 000 oz.
