Each day MiningWeekly.com publishes news from around the mining world. To facilitate this global coverage, MiningWeekly.com has three separate home pages – Africa/Europe, Australasia and Americas. A new functionality has been created to allow readers to select the news region that they would like to access as their default home page.

In order to set your default home page visit www.miningweekly.com and click on the region selection button, indicated by a small globe of the world, at top left underneath the main navigation of the site, and then click on the option “Set Default Edition”. Thereafter, choose the region which you want to set as your home page, that is, Africa/Europe, Australasia or Americas and click Set Now.

If you are on the MiningWeekly.com mobi-site, at m.miningweekly.com, you can set your default home page by clicking on the Menu button at top right and then clicking on the option to “Set Default Edition”.

After you set your default edition you will be taken to the regional home page of your choice each time you visit www.miningweekly.com

Should you wish to cancel your default selection then you should again click on the region selection button, on the site, of Menu button, on the mobi-site, and select the option “Clear Default Edition”.

Once you clear the default edition, or if you choose never to set a default edition, the MiningWeekly.com site will automatically show you the region that it considers to be most relevant based on the region of your computer of phone’s IP settings. For example, if your IP shows that you are in Africa then you will be directed to MiningWeekly.com’s Africa/Europe home page, or if the IP shows that you are in Australia to the Australasia home page, or if the IP shows that you are in North or South America to the Americas home page.

There are a number of situations in which setting your default edition would be highly desirable, such as:

  • Your IP may not be in the country where you are physically located (for example if you are part of an international company or international network) and MiningWeekly.com will show you the home page for the region where your IP is based rather that where you are located; in such a case you can set the default edition for the region in which you are located if you would prefer mining news from that region.
  • You may be travelling, but you may wish to keep in touch with mining news from a particular region during your travels; in such a situation you can set the default edition for the region whose mining news you would most like to stay in touch with. After you return you can continue with your default selection, or clear the default edition.
  • You may be working on a particular project that requires you to track mining news from a particular region. In such a situation it might be desirable to set the default edition of MiningWeekly.com for the region that you are tracking.

In addition to the three regional home pages of MiningWeekly.com, Creamer Media has a free service sending out Mining Weekly email newsletters for each of our three regions each day. Should you wish to subscribe to these newsletters please email subscriptions@creamermedia.co.za, or should you wish to advertise on these newsletters or various home pages of MiningWeekly.com please email advertising@creamermedia.co.za.
