JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mark Bristow-led Randgold Resources made payments of $173-million to the jurisdictions where it operates in the year ended December 31, 2016.

In a breakdown of its payments to governments, released on Friday, the gold miner noted that this included $161-million paid to the Mali government, where the company operates the Morila gold mine.

In Côte d'Ivoire, where the company operates the Tongon mine, Randgold paid $11.7-million in royalties, taxes, dividends, licence fees and infrastructure improvements, while in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where its Kibali mine is situated, the company paid $157 944.
