JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Dual-listed Platinum Group Metals (PTM) expects the first concentrate production at its Western Bushveld Joint Venture Project 1 platinum mine to start late in January, with first concentrate deliveries to Anglo American Platinum scheduled for February.

Hot commissioning of the Project 1 plant was under way, while underground development was ongoing.

PTM said in a statement that its key business aims for the year would be to safely ramp up Project 1 in line with or exceeding its guidance, while advancing the Waterberg project through prefeasibility and into preparations for a mining right application.

PTM aimed to determine the scale of the Waterberg project deposit to find the section of the deposit with the greatest thickness nearest to surface and to optimise the mine plan and metallurgical recovery of the deposit for inclusion in the prefeasibility study that was under way.

A resource update based on current diamond drilling was expected to be released in March.
