JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) on Friday said thousands of its members would march to the Chamber of Mines’ (CoM’s) offices on Saturday to hand over a memorandum of demands.

The demands were aimed at forcing the CoM to meet the NUM’s wage demands in the gold and coal sectors.

After reaching a deadlock in wage negotiations last month, gold producers and labour unions were expected to meet again in a Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration-led process on September 14.
