JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed Northam Platinum expected its earnings and headline earnings a share for the six months ended December 31, 2012, to be between 30% and 45% lower than the earnings a share of 51.8c and headline earnings a share of 51.9c reported for the previous comparable period.

The anticipated decline in earnings reflected the financial costs incurred on borrowings and a higher effective tax charge during the period under review.

However, operating profit for the six months was expected to be higher than for the equivalent 2011 period.

Northam would release its interim results for the six months on or around February 22.
