ArcelorMittal Liberia, a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal.

Project Description
ArcelorMittal has completed a revised detailed feasibility study for the modular construction of a 15-million-tonne concentrator, with aligned mine, concentrate, rail and port capacity.

Phase 2 is considered to be a brownfield project.

The project will require capital expenditure of $800-million.

Planned Start/End Date
Construction on Phase 2 of the project started in 2013; however, the project was suspended, owing to the onset of Ebola in West Africa, and the subsequent force majeure declaration by the on-site contracting companies. The project is now expected to restart construction in 2021, with first concentrate expected in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Latest Developments
ArcelorMittal plans to restart the expansion of its iron-ore operations in Liberia this year, with first concentrate expected towards the end of 2023.
